bKash joins hands with USAID-funded Agro-Input Retailers Network to increase incomes of rural women retailers

Dhaka, May 24, 2016: Around 100 rural women retailers, who are rural agro-input sellers, will soon have the opportunity to become agents of bKash Limited, the leading mobile financial service provider in Bangladesh. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed recently between bKash and the Agro-Input Retailers Network (AIRN), an initiative of the USAID-funded Agro-Inputs Project (AIP), which has already built a network of more than 3,000 retailers across 19 districts and 80 upazilas in southwestern Bangladesh to supply quality agricultural inputs to farmers. Currently, about 100 women retailers are members of AIRN, which is expected to grow to 300 by September 2017.
