With much enthusiasm and festivity, a large number of school students participated at the “Biggan Chinta-bKash Science Fest” in Khulna and Barishal on this Friday and Saturday (26 & 27 July). The country’s largest mobile financial service provider, bKash and Biggan Chinta, a leading science related monthly publication jointly organized the festival where different events including exhibition of science projects, quiz competition, question-answer session, lecture by renowned teachers of the country, robot exhibition, science magic, orientation with various science books, cultural show and prize-giving session for winners took place.
The science fest in Barishal was inaugurated by Major Saidul Islam Majumdar, Principal of Barishal Govt. Model School and College. Major General (Retd.) Sheikh Md. Monirul Islam, Chief External and Corporate Affairs Officer of bKash; Abdul Kayum, Editor of Biggan Chinta; Abul Bashar, Executive Editor of Biggan Chinta; Abdul Gaffar, Deputy Editor of Biggan Chinta; Md. Irfan, lecturer of CSE department of Barishal University and Morshed Alam Ovi, lecturer of Mathematics department of the same university were present at the event.
To promote the science practice among the school students, this program started from Dhaka. Following that, the fest has been successfully held in Chattogram and Rangpur. The fest came to Barishal at its fifth phase after the event of Khulna on Friday, 26th July. Later, it will be organized in the divisional cities of Sylhet and Rajshahi. Then the grand final will be held in Dhaka at the last stage.
Major General (Retd.) Sheikh Md. Monirul Islam, Chief External and Corporate Affairs Officer of bKash said that the company is proud to inspire students through this program. He aspires to nurture the young talents properly so that they can keep pace with the highly advancing new world of science and become successful scientists in future. This initiative will help students think in more scientific ways and broaden their minds.
Abdul Kayum, Editor of Biggan Chinta said that Bangladesh is now on the highway of ICT where you can only move forward. Digital Bangladesh is not a dream anymore, it is becoming a reality now. And to keep this pace, there is no alternative of nurturing our young talents. He hopes, this Science Fest will boost the confidence among the students.
Launched in 2011, bKash, a joint venture of BRAC Bank, US based Money in Motion, International Finance Corporation, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Ant Financial, operates as a payment service provider offering broad range of mobile/digital financial services under the regulation of Bangladesh Bank.
