bKash contributes 34,000 books to Bishwo Shahitto Kendro

bKash Limited, the leading mobile financial service provider in the country will provide around 34,000 books to Bishwo Shahitto Kendro (BSK) to facilitate its ‘Nation-Wide Enrichment Program’, a book reading programme for students.

bKash will make the contribution to carry out the reading programme in 460 schools with a target to reach around 45,000 students each year. The book reading programme is designed for the students of class 6 to 10.

Abdullah Abu Sayeed, founder Chairman and Chief Executive of BSK received the contribution from Kamal Quadir, Chief Executive Officer of bKash at a simple ceremony held at the BSK auditorium in the city today (Wednesday).

“We are very happy to be associated with Bishwo Shahitto Kendro which is doing a fantastic job in promoting reading habits, enlightenment and progressive ideas among the students”, said Kamal Quadir.

Abdullah Abu Sayeed thanked bKash for providing the books and expressed “Bishwo Shahitto Kendro has been working for the last 35 years to build an enlightened society and support from organization like bKash is very important to implement the initiative.”

Launched in 2011, bKash, a joint venture of BRAC Bank, US based Money in Motion and World Bank’s private sector investment arm IFC,  offers a broad range of mobile financial services focused on reaching the unbanked population of Bangladesh.

Senior officials of both the organizations were present at the ceremony.
