Dhaka University Alumni Association (DUAA), the apex body of 1.6 million alumni of the University of Dhaka, is celebrating its Diamond Jubilee (Hirok Jayanti) with a gala day-long event on 1st December this year. University of Dhaka was established in 1921 but the alumni of first batch formed DUAA in 1949.
In order to facilitate easy registration and payment for participation at the upcoming major event especially for its alumni across Bangladesh, DUAA is for the first time accepting non-cash fees through a unique arrangement with bKash Limited, a subsidiary of BRAC Bank Limited.
In this respect, DUAA and bKash Limited signed an agreement at a simple ceremony on 5th May 2012 which will allow all Life Members of DUAA to register for the Diamond Jubilee celebrations using bKash mobile money transfer service. Held at "Alumni Floor" of Dhaka University Senate Bhavan, Raquibuddin Ahmed – Secretary General of DUAA and Kamal S. Quadir – CEO of bKash Limited signed the agreement.
As per the agreement, DUAA members can transfer the required amount through their mobile phones to DUAA bKash Account # 01836052898. Also under the agreement, DUAA Life Members can open an account with bKash by simply showing their DUAA ID Card at any bKash Agent Point. With more than 10,000 bKash Agents all over Bangladesh, including more than 3,000 in Dhaka City alone, this facility provides a convenient and time-saving means of registering and paying for DUAA events.
