Migration registration fees can be paid through bKash

Migrant workers who are willing to apply for skill migration can now pay their registration fees through bKash.

Bureau of Manpower, Empowerment and Training (BMET) under Ministry of Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment of Bangladesh Government recently signed an agreement with bKash Limited to facilitate the easy and hassle free payment of registration fee.

Md. Salim Reza, Director General (Additional Secretary) of BMET and Ali Ahmmed, Head of Planning and Business Development of bKash exchanged the deal on behalf of their respective organizations.

Migrant workers who are willing to apply for skill migration are likely to apply from all over the country; it will be easy for everyone to pay through bKash from remote places 24/7. It will be a time and cost saving initiative for applicants as well as BMET.  

Rezwanul Haque, Deputy Director, Dr. MD. Nurul Islam, Director Training & Operation of BMET and  Md. Mahbubur Rahman Chowdhury, Deputy General Manager, Mohammad Ziaul Haque, Deputy General Manager, International Business Remittance; Ifrat Jahan, Acquisition Manager, Commercial of bKash  were also present during the signing ceremony.

Launched in 2011, bKash, a joint venture of BRAC Bank, US based Money in Motion, International Finance Corporation, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Ant Financial, operates as a payment service provider offering broad range of mobile/digital financial services under the regulation of Bangladesh Bank.

BMET was created in 1976 from the manpower wing of Labor Directorate. The main objectives of BMET are Institutional training through Technical Training Centers, establishment of new training institutes through development projects, conducting informal and special training courses, emigration clearance to the migrant workers, maintenance of computer database network for the migrant workers, welfare of overseas Bangladeshi workers and their families and regulating and monitoring licenses of Recruiting Agencies.
